Making a Difference at the Mustard Seed

As Calgary goes through tough economic times, many of its citizens are hurting. In a city of more than a million people, one in five Calgarians are concerned about not having enough money for food.

On the morning of February 23, members of Graycon I.T.’s Inside Sales, Marketing, Solutions and Services teams stepped up, jumped in and helped out at the Mustard Seed, making lunch for more than 400 Calgarians.

For more than 30 years, the Mustard Seed has been serving people experiencing poverty and homelessness in Alberta. Today, The Mustard Seed in Calgary offers an expansive range of innovative programs and services, including education and employment programs, health and wellness services, basic needs through a shelter for 370 men and women, spiritual care and housing.

At Graycon, Karma is a key part of our culture, our success and our future. We simply believe, if you do good things, good things happen. This means giving back to the community both individually and as a whole. Over the years, Graycon and Grayconians have donated their time, money and resources to charities and to the community. Graycon works with not-for-profit clients and offers paid work days where staff are encouraged to volunteer at the organization of their choosing as well as numerous group volunteer opportunities.

“It’s a great opportunity to give back to the community,” says Rod Dow, Business Development at Graycon. “We know that things have been tough here, and Graycon’s commitment to Karma gives us the chance to both witness this struggle firsthand and do something about it.”
